MDL6004   Research Seminar Module   (15 credits)

Description

The unit provides a practical introduction to the structure, management and organization of a dissertation or thesis in Modern Languages. It focuses particularly on presentational skills and, above all, on achieving clarity, cogency and coherence. PhD students work with their supervisor. In the course of the semester all students undertake directed reading, literature review activities and contextual studies related to the emerging thesis topic. Students complete a detailed annotated bibliography arising from their directed reading and literature review. An optional advanced language element is included for (mature and other) students who need to refresh or extend their academic language skills.
